Mupinase® Cream is an antibacterial topical medication manufactured by Cipla. It is used to treat bacterial skin infections. Mupirocin, an active ingredient of Mupinase® Cream, is an antibiotic in the carbolic acid class of medications. This antibiotic is bacteriostatic at low concentrations and bactericidal at high concentrations.

Mupinase® Cream is indicated for treatment of secondarily infected traumatic skin lesions such as small lacerations, wounds, and abrasions.

MOA (mechanism of action)

Mupirocin stops harmful bacteria growth by ruining the formation of isoleucyl-tRNA and inhibiting RNA (ribonucleic acid) and protein synthesis in bacteria. Mupirocin also has a wide range of bactericidal activity against numerous gram-positive and certain gram-negative bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Bordetella pertussis, Pasteurella multocida, and Moraxella catarrhalis.

Mupinase® Cream is normally applied to the skin 3 times a day, usually for 10 days.

Consult your doctor if you see no improvements in 3-5 days of Mupinase® Cream usage.

Before you apply the cream, ensure the affected area is clean and dry.

Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area with a piece of cotton or gauze swab. After applying the cream, you may use a clean gauze to cover the area of application.

Wash your hands before and after using Mupinase® Cream.

Consult your doctor on how often to apply Mupinase® Cream. Use Mupinase® Cream exactly as directed.
