Description

Omnipred ophthalmic suspension's active ingredient is Prednisolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid, type of corticosteroid hormone known for its potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. Omnipred ophthalmic suspension is only meant to be used for a short-term treatment.

Indications:

- corticosteroid-responsive eye disorders (e.g., allergic conjunctivitis, allergic marginal corneal ulcer, anterior segment inflammation, bacterial conjunctivitis, chorioretinitis, choroiditis, cyclitis, Graves' ophthalmopathy, herpes zoster ocular infection (herpes zoster ophthalmicus) with appropriate antiviral therapy, iritis, non-specific keratitis or superficial punctate keratitis, postoperative ocular inflammation, optic neuritis, diffuse posterior uveitis, vernal keratoconjunctivitis);

- corneal injury from chemical, radiation, or thermal burns or penetration of foreign objects;

- corticosteroid-responsive eye disorders unresponsive to topical ophthalmic treatment or for diseases requiring systemic treatment (e.g., sympathetic ophthalmia or optic neuritis).

MOA (mechanism of action):

Prednisolone is a glucocorticoid, a synthetic hormone that suppresses inflammation and immune reactions. Namely, the anti-inflammatory action of Prednisolone is thought to stimulate lipocortins (phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins), which regulate the biosynthesis of mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the release of the arachidonic acid.

Dosage

Shake well before using.

Instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac 2 to 4 times daily.

During the initial 24 to 48 hours, the dosing frequency may be increased if necessary.

After using drops for 10 days, check the results of therapy with your doctor.

Do not discontinue therapy prematurely.

If signs and symptoms fail to improve after 2 days, consult your doctor immediately.

Missing a dose

If you miss a dose you should instill it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not instill a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose

If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.
