Description

Combinase® AQ Nasal Spray, manufactured by Zydus Cadila and marketed by German Remedies, comprises two active ingredients called Fluticasone Propionate, topical corticosteroid, and Azelastine — a potent, second-generation, selective, histamine antagonist (histamine-H1-receptor antagonist).

Indications:

- relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients 6 years of age and older.

MOA (mechanism of action):

Fluticasone Propionate inhibits multiple cell types (e.g., mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, and lymphocytes) and mediators (e.g., histamine, eicosanoids, leukotrienes, and cytokines) involved in allergic and non-allergic-mediated inflammation. This contributes to the efficacy in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. Azelastine competes with histamine for the H1-receptor sites on effector cells and acts as an antagonist by inhibiting the release of histamine and other mediators involved in the allergic response.

Dosage

The recommended dosage is 1 spray in each nostril twice daily.

Administer by the intranasal route only.

Shake the bottle gently before each use.

Prime Combinase® AQ Nasal Spray before initial use by releasing 6 sprays or until a fine mist appears. When Combinase® AQ Nasal Spray has not been used for 14 or more days, reprime with 1 spray or until a fine mist appears.

Corticosteroids may cause a reduction in growth velocity when used to pediatric patients. Monitor the growth routinely of pediatric patients receiving Combinase® AQ Nasal Spray.
