About Levolin® Inhaler

Rating of sales:

Description

Levolin® Inhaler is a bronchodilator manufactured by Cipla. It acts directly on the airways in the lungs which have been constricted due to an asthma attack. The bronchodilator helps keep the airways open, allowing air to move in and out more easily. This helps to relieve chest tightness, wheezing and coughing. Its active ingredient Levosalbutamol is a beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist that works by relaxing smooth muscle in the bronchial tubes, and thus relieving or reversing an acute ‘attack’ of shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. The medicine also helps relieve symptoms of asthma attack caused by exercise or exposure to an allergen like cats or pollen or any other trigger like cold air or cigarette smoke.

Indications:

- asthma;

- COPD.

MOA (mechanism of action):

Levolin® Inhaler contains Levosalbutamol, a beta2-agonist, that acts directly on the small airways of the lungs (bronchioles). Levosalbutamol in the inhaler binds to beta2 receptors, stimulating their response, which causes the smooth muscle lining of the airways to relax and the airways to widen, relieving an acute bronchospasm. This allows the airways to open making it easier to breathe, thereby relieving symptoms of asthma, such as chest tightness, wheezing, cough, and shortness of breath. Levosalbutamol also inhibits the release of asthma trigger mediators from mast cells in the airways, thus preventing allergen- or exercise-induced bronchospasm. Levosalbutamol in Levolin® Inhaler has a rapid onset, but has short duration of action, lasting 4-6 hours and is used as a reliever medication for severe asthma, delivered into the lungs as an aerosol with each actuation (puff).

Dosage

Levolin® Inhaler is for the oral inhalation route only. The accurate dosage depends on the severity of symptoms and should be prescribed bu a doctor for each patient individually.
